Okay, I haven’t seen this rant anywhere yet so I’m going to write it myself. Whether you ship Kara and Lena or not, it is unsatisfying as a story to have Lena turn evil. As a viewer, it’s impossible to not compare their relationship to Clark and Lex’s relationship. We all know the story and even if we didn’t, the show hammers on the topic of how Lex was Clark’s friend and how he betrayed him. We get it. So the tragedy underlying the relationship between Clark and Lex in Smallville was that Lex was always going to be evil and Clark was always going to be heartbroken. But the tragedy underlying the relationship between Kara and Lena in Supergirl is that Lena is living in the shadow of her brother’s actions and everyone in Kara’s life is telling her not to trust Lena. It’s good to see Lena struggling with doing the right thing, or at least appearing to, because the themes of both of these relationships are doubt and trust and love. But she always has to be redeemable. Because a story of love and trust being more powerful than doubt is more satisfying than a story of “sometimes people who are deemed guilty by association are actually tainted by that association and are also bad themselves”. So basically… If season 5 doesn’t end with Kara cradling Lena in her strong, strong arms while Lena cries all of her feelings out into the crook of Kara’s neck, imma be pissed.

so you dated the wrong person and learned a hard lesson. you chose the wrong major and had to start over again. you cherished a friend who backstabbed you. it sucks, but it’s also going to work out. that’s life; you learn, hurt, love, cry, laugh, and keep going. you experience setbacks and you grow and it’s all okay.
